Dal Microcredentials meet specific criteria set by ¹û¶³ÊÓÆµ offering employers a level of assurance that the recipient has successfully demonstrated that skill or competency to a desired specification. Pursuing and recognizing these Dal Microcredentials makes recruitment, hiring and selection processes more efficient.

By earning a microcredential, individuals can demonstrate their expertise in a specific area and showcase it using a digital badge that has the ¹û¶³ÊÓÆµ logo. The badge then can be added to a professional resume or an online platform such as Linkedin.Ìý
Dual-branded microcredentials represent learning experiences that meet the criteria of a Dalhousie microcredential but are delivered by an outside organization or employer. These microcredentials have the logo of the partnership organization or business prominently displayed on the digital badge.

Learners concluded their work with a reflective capstone and actionable plan outlining how they will implement equity-driven leadership practices in their professional contexts. An instructor assessed these using rubrics. Earners had to achieve a minimum grade of 70%.

Microcredential Description: Earners demonstrated the ability to design and implement organisational wellness plans tailored to supporting first responders in managing and recovering from the psychological demands of their work. They comprehensively analysed key organisational stressors and service gaps, collaborated with stakeholders, and proposed evidence-based, scalable recommendations that promote psychological resilience, growth, and well-being for first responders. This skill is critical for addressing mental health challenges in high-stress workplaces and aligns with the growing demand for wellness-focused leadership in emergency services.

They were evaluated on the depth of analysis, feasibility of recommendations, and alignment with workplace wellness practices.
Wildfire and Climate Change Adaptation
Microcredential Description: Earners are competent in establishing comprehensive wildfire management strategies for governments to prevent and mitigate wildfires triggered by climate change.

Recommendations specific to each audience considered the financial and human resource impact and future needs of communities in mitigating wildfires associated with climate change. Feedback from peers and the instructor were incorporated into each strategy which was submitted as a presentation or written report. These were assessed by an instructor using rubrics. Earners had to achieve a minimum grade of 70%.

Microcredential Description: Earners can design an investigation unit and an investigation strategy related to money laundering and fraud for the casino gaming industry.

Microcredential Description: Earners can design an investigation unit and an investigation strategy for a financial institution related to money laundering and other financial crimes.

The report outlined roles within the proposed unit and included strategies to uncover the various types of financial crime. This was evaluated by an instructor using a rubric. A grade of 70% was achieved.
Responsible Gaming and Player Protection Practices
Microcredential Description: Earners of the Responsible Gaming and Player Protection Microcredential can critically assess the state of responsible gaming and player protection in their organization and identify potential improvements.

Microcredential Description: Earners are competent in conducting interviews to make individual and organizational recommendations to resolve interpersonal and intercultural conflict.

They then presented this detailed business case to their instructor and classmates acting as senior leadership in a Council setting, demonstrating executive presence and presentation skills. During their presentation, they fielded questions on their rationale, budget, and overall proposal. Earners were evaluated in a live scenario by an instructor using a rubric and achieved a minimum grade of 70% on both their written report and presentation.
Parliamentary Procedure in Local Government
Microcredential Description: Earners can professionally participate and lead formal local government meetings using the basics of Robert's Rule of Order.

Earning Criteria: Earners of this microcredential developed a written code of conduct outlining the purpose, organizational council values, and the expected and prohibited behaviours for a formal local government meeting. Each Earner led a mock meeting for 5 minutes, and also played the role of a staff member using real life scenarios. They demonstrated leadership and participation strategies and techniques by deploying Robert’s Rules of Order including the use of appropriate language and terminology, procedures to open the meeting and address members, and managing conflict. As the Chair of the meeting, each earner demonstrated their ability to call the meeting to order, navigate the debate, announce the vote, and demonstrate a strategy to resolve a conflict. As the participant, they demonstrated their ability to present a topic, request the opportunity to speak, move a motion, second a motion, and vote on a motion. Earners were evaluated by an instructor using a checklist during the scenarios. They had to achieve a grade of 70% on their written code of conduct evaluated using a rubric, and they achieved 70% overall in the course.
Property Taxation
Microcredential Description: Earners can evaluate the effectiveness of property tax and assessment reform initiatives for municipalities within Nova Scotia using a structured socio-economic framework to make practical, inclusive, and achievable recommendations and communication messaging that considers fiscal and social impacts.

The earner can confidently assess key elements of the laser such as wavelength, classification and power; identify potential beam and non-beam hazards; and implement the appropriate control measures to protect themselves and others.
